Days at the beach and lounging by the pool are two of the best parts of summer, but along with that fun comes a yucky reality: shaving. If you’re sick of shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams, come try something that lasts. Laser hair removal can get you silky and smooth for summer without the constant need for maintenance. Grab that bikini and hit the beach, no pre-shaving required!

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is as close as you can currently get to permanent hair removal. Specialized lasers are used to target the pigment in hair, destroying the hair follicle and inhibiting future growth. Many patients see a 30% reduction in hair with each treatment and after several treatments, an impressive reduction in the quantity and thickness of hair. The effects of treatment can last for several years or more.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

If you have unwanted hair, you may be a good candidate for laser hair removal. Come see us for personalized advice. In general the best candidates have:
• Hair that Is Darker than Their Skin- Laser hair removal works by targeting laser energy into the pigment of the hair. If the skin is darker than the hair being treated, adverse reactions may occur if the skin absorbs the laser light. Laser hair removal is not typically recommended for patients with light blonde, white, or gray hair. Patients with red hair may or may not be eligible for treatment.
• No Tan- We ask patients not to tan before their treatments.

Is the Treatment Painful?

Laser hair removal is not as painful as some hair removal methods (like electrolysis or plucking), but you may feel a slight snapping sensation as the laser passes over your skin. We can use a numbing cream before treatment if desired.
After treatment you’re free to resume your regular activities, no downtime required. You may have a bit of redness or inflammation, but this is typically less than what you’d experience with traditional hair removal techniques.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments for maximum results. The treatment only works on hair in the active growing phase. Since your hair is constantly cycling through growth phases, multiple treatments, usually around three, are needed to obtain an optimum result. We will set up a treatment schedule that works for you.
