The Vbeam Perfecta Laser is a blood vessel laser that is more effective and gentler than earlier technologies. Its “micro-pulse technology” is now the gold standard for the treatment of vascular conditions such as broken capillaries, diffuse redness, dilated facial veins, rosacea, and angiomas.
While the Vbeam is primarily used on the face, neck, and chest, it can also be used as a supplement to Sclerotherapy to improve the appearance of small leg veins.
The Vbeam is also an effective treatment for the discoloration of pigmented lesions such as age spots, brown spots, and sun spots (lentigenes).
If you have both brown spots and redness, the Vbeam can simultaneously treat both.
While nurses perform this treatment in many practices, at the Santa Monica Laser and Skin Care Center, Vbeam Perfecta laser procedures are only done by our board-certified physicians, Dr. Amerian and Dr. Anterasian.
Candidates for the Vbeam Perfecta Laser
If you have redness and/or dark spots on your face, neck, or chest, this procedure can provide you with improved overall skin tone.
The Vbeam Perfecta Laser is also effective on patients who have more pigment in their skin, such as Asian and Hispanic patients. Please contact our office to find out if the Vbeam will work for you.
How the Vbeam Perfecta Laser Works
The laser light from the Vbeam Perfecta is selectively absorbed by the red color of the blood in the broken blood vessels. This heats the blood, which in turn causes the blood vessel wall to narrow. After 3-5 treatments, the redness is significantly reduced through this process.
In the case of dark spots, the brown pigment in the spot selectively absorbs the laser light, and the spot then flakes off over the next several days, effectively lightening the skin.
What to Expect During Vbeam Perfecta Laser Treatment
One of the advantages of the Vbeam Perfecta laser is that it is gentle, so numbing cream is not required for most patients. When the laser is in use, a cooling spray on the surface of the skin will keep you comfortable.
Most patients require 3-5 treatments every 3-4 weeks to achieve the desired result.
Results of Vbeam Perfecta Laser Treatment
After completing the treatment program, your skin tone will be more uniform in color. In some cases, all broken capillaries and dark spots can be eliminated. In all cases, they are significantly reduced and lightened, and the treated areas are much less red.
No downtime is required after Vbeam Perfecta Laser treatments. You can continue all normal activities without interruption.
You may experience some mild swelling for a few days. This will resolve on its own, and make-up can be worn during the recovery period.
It is important to use sunscreen when outside following these appointments because your skin will be more sun-sensitive for a few days. Plus, regularly wearing sun protection after the treatments will help to prevent a recurrence of dark spots, redness, and rosacea and will result in longer lasting improvements.
Our office is conveniently located in Santa Monica. Dr. Amerian and Dr. Anterasian see patients from greater Los Angeles, as well as Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach, Venice, Westwood, and Malibu.
